We are all aware that most national health systems are unsustainable given an increasing

demand for health services, more expensive technologies, an ageing population and adwindling

health workforce capacity. Most of developed countries study and construct various

electronic health record systems against these issues. The main theme of this congress,

“Symposium 2008 of JAMI”, is “From Electronic Medical Records to Electronic Health

Records” and deals issues around constructing EHR in Japan. Fortunately we can hold this

congress at beautiful city Akita with great help by Prof. Kondoh of Akita University. We look
