Japan Association for Medical Informatics Conflict of Interest
Japan Association for Medical Informatics is a subcommittee of the Japanese Association of Medical Sciences, and it formulates guidelines and bylaws based on the ``Japan Medical Association Guidelines for COI Management in Medical Research 2014'' and examples from other societies. the purpose
The purpose of these guidelines is for the Japan Association for Medical Informatics to maintain neutrality and transparency in activities such as the publication of research and development results and their dissemination and awareness by appropriately managing conflicts of interest among members. Our goal is to fulfill our social responsibilities by appropriately promoting medical science and contributing to the advancement of medicine and healthcare.
When presenting research and development results (oral presentations, posters, hyper demos, luncheon seminars, etc.), conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the prescribed format.
Eligible persons
Lead presenters and speakers at academic conferences, study groups, lectures, etc. sponsored by the Japan Association for Medical Informatics, regardless of whether they are members or non-members. Presentations by students and companies are also eligible.
What to disclose
At the time of the presentation/oral presentation, the lead presenter, lead presenter, his/her spouse, first-degree relatives, and those with whom he/she shares his/her livelihood, must have been involved in medical informatics research for one year prior to the presentation submission. It is necessary to disclose whether there is a conflict of interest with a company or a for-profit organization using a prescribed form.

If the description corresponds to a self-reported statement, but approval has been obtained in accordance with the conflict of interest guidelines or regulations of the affiliated institution, it is not necessary to state the company name, etc. on the form.

If the content of your publication (original article, review, materials, etc.) in the Japan Association for Medical Informatics' journal (medical informatics) involves financial relationships with companies or for-profit organizations related to medical informatics research, you must notify the Society's secretariat in advance using the form specified in the submission guidelines.
Eligible persons
All authors making presentations (original works, reviews, materials, etc.), regardless of whether they are members or non-members. Conflicts of interest that have occurred within two years from the time of posting are eligible.
Corresponding authors should submit declarations of conflict of interest from all authors of the paper.
What to disclose
Please write the details of "Disclosed Potential Conflict of Interest" at the end of the paper, before the Acknowledgments or References. If there are no conflicts of interest as specified, please write "No potential conflicts of interest were disclosed" or similar in the same section.
Declaration
The content of the conflict of interest to be self-reported at the time of submission is the following as specified in "IV. Matters to be declared" of the "Guidelines for Conflicts of Interest (COI) in Medical Informatics Research." The criteria for reporting is Form 2-A (word version,PDF version), Form 2-B (word version,PDF version).
- Appointment as an officer, advisor, etc. of a company, corporate organization, or for-profit organization
- Holding shares in a company
- Royalty fees for patent rights, etc. paid by companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations
- A per diem (lecture fee, etc.) paid by a company, corporate organization, or for-profit organization for the time and effort required of a researcher for attendance (presentation) at a conference.
- Manuscript fees paid by companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations for writing pamphlets, etc.
- Research funds and grants provided by companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations (commissioned research funds, joint research funds, scholarship donations, etc.)
- Endowed courses funded by companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations
- Accepting researchers from companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations
- Other travel expenses, gifts, etc. provided by companies, corporate organizations, and for-profit organizations.
