Basic policy regarding protection of personal information

　Japan Association for Medical Informatics (hereinafter referred to as the Association) considers the protection of the personal information of its members to be an important responsibility, and strives to protect personal information by establishing the following personal information protection policy.
　Personal information refers to information that can identify an individual, which is collected when applying for membership to the Society and through research and projects conducted by the Society.

  1. The Association complies with related laws and guidelines, including the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and strives to protect personal information.
  2. The association's member information (personal information about members obtained through membership applications and subsequent change notifications, etc.) will be used to the extent necessary for the affairs of the association as stated in the association's articles of incorporation.
    　a. Notification to the person for club duties such as collection of membership fees
    　b. Public relations to individuals regarding the projects and research conducted by the Society
    　c. Providing information that the Association considers useful to members.
    In addition, when personal information other than member information is collected, the purpose of use will be clarified and notified.

  3. The Association will not provide member information and other personal information to third parties without the consent of the individual, except as stipulated by relevant laws and regulations.
  4. The Society strives to safely manage the personal information it holds.
  5. If there is a request for disclosure of personal information held by the Association from the person or his or her representative in accordance with the procedures established by the Association, as a general rule, the information will be disclosed promptly.
  6. If there is any discrepancy in the disclosed personal information, the Society will, in principle, respond to correction requests from the person or his/her representative.
